Lesson Pack Details

- This is a lesson pack of 5 lessons in total. When you send the request for the first lesson, points for all 5 lessons will be deducted at once.
- Once the tutor confirms the first request, “100% OFF coupons” that can be used for the remaining 4 requests will be issued automatically.
- You can use these coupons to send requests for the remaining lessons.
- The validity period for this lesson pack is 80 days starting from the scheduled date and time of the first confirmed lesson.

Even if the first scheduled lesson is canceled, the already set validity period will not change.
You can check the lesson pack’s validity period on the Request > Lesson Pack page.

Cancellation of pack lessons

• 'Unstarted' lesson packs⁽¹⁾ can be cancelled any time. Used Points will be completely refunded. If a 'started' lesson pack⁽²⁾ is cancelled, you will be refunded 50% of the price of the remaining lessons provided that the lessons are unrequested, unconfirmed or not within 24 hours of their scheduled start times.

(1) A lesson pack for which none of the requests have been confirmed by the tutor.
(2) A lesson pack with at least one confirmed request. (By confirming the date and time for the first lesson in the pack the tutor confirms the pack as a whole and coupons are automatically issued)

Cancelling individual requests in a pack

• If you wish to cancel a single lesson that belongs to a pack but not the whole pack, you can do so via the request page. In this case, the coupon used to book the lesson will either be refunded or collected, based on the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy. Please note that any 50% partial refunds in the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy do not apply to lesson packs and the tutor may choose to either refund or collect the coupon in those cases.

In today's lesson, I found it interesting to learn that in a typical rented house in Scotland, the ground floor is wooden and you have to wear shoes, but the first floor is carpeted so you can get around in slippers. Also, perhaps because Scotland is a cool region, air conditioning is not necessary in the summer, but it is certainly predictable that heating bills would be high in the cold winters. I was reminded once again that if you live in northwestern Europe, you should keep in mind that the winter climate is very different to that of Japan.

In this class, we studied one article. It was about the CEO of a company who travels all over the world by plane all year round for work. I was surprised to hear him openly talk about how he wants to be treated as if he were in a privileged class and how he doesn't like airlines that don't fulfill that wish. Although it may be different in each country, there are people who care about this kind of status everywhere, and it reminded me once again that the environment in which a person grows up, from their childhood onwards, has a big impact on them even as adults.

Today we learned the differences between American English and British English. I was surprised to learn that Scottish English is pronounced like American English. As teacher Steven mentioned in his feedback, there are also dialects within a country, and people from the same country who grew up in a different region cannot understand the dialect of another region at all. I agree with this idea that it's the same across countries. It's inevitable that people will speak a dialect depending on where they grew up, but I think it's important to learn the standard language of a country when speaking in public situations.
