Caution
This lesson is best suited for people who want to study Thai for a long time period.
We do not use any Japanese characters.

Lesson1　What kind of characters does the Thai language use?
Thai has characters like “a i u e o” in Japanese.

For example, “ka” in Japanese is made up of the consonant K and the vowel A to make up KA. Thai is split up into consonants and vowels.

Let’s leave the vowels for now and start with the consonants!

Lesson2　Thai has 44 consonants total!
These 44 consonants can be split up into 3 categories.

Meaning…? Once you memorize and master these 3 categories, Thai pronunciation will become much easier!

Lesson３　Let’s learn the vowels!
Now that you’ve learned all the consonants, it’s time to move onto vowels!

Once you master all 15 (technically 16) vowels, you will be able to read what once just looked like a bunch of squiggles!!

Lesson４　What are final consonants? What are phonetic symbols?
Ok here’s where we have to start pushing ourselves! Just a little bit more! Thai has a lot of sounds that Japanese does not, and we must not read them, but have to pronounce them when saying them out loud. I know you’re probably thinking “???”

There are also marks that indicate when to pronounce something differently.

It’s okay!
There aren’t many final consonants and phonetic symbols so they are easy to memorize.

Lesson５　Pronunciation Rules
Let’s continue learning about the 3 categories of vowels we learned about in lesson 1.

When these are combined with the final consonants or phonetic symbols we learned about in lesson 4, the pronunciation changes.

Thai has regular pronunciation rules.
Once you memorize this logic, you can see, read, and master clear Thai pronunciation.

Lesson６　Let’s learn vocabulary!
Now that you can read, let’s learn some vocabulary!
You will definitely start thinking, “Oh!!! That’s what it means! How interesting!” and the Thai world will open up to you!

Once you can read Thai characters, you can learn more about Thai culture and values.

It’s very interesting!
