Six-Year-Olds Would Love Your English

2026年1月21日

Hello Esteemed Students,

I’d like to invite you to take part in a small, completely optional, and slightly heart-warming English activity.

A relative of mine is a first-grade teacher in Massachusetts, and her class is participating in a project called “Hearts Around the World.” The idea is simple: children receive Valentine’s Day cards or postcards from different places, then mark where they came from on a world map.

Most of her students are ESL learners (many from Central America), so this is also a good way for young English learners to see that English connects people across countries and cultures—not just textbooks.

If you’d like to join, you’re welcome to send:

  • a Valentine’s Day card, or

  • a postcard from your city or country

Written in simple, friendly English. Think:

  • “Hello from Tokyo!”

  • “I live near the ocean.”

  • “I like coffee and dogs.”

Short is perfect. Clear is perfect. No poetry awards will be given (I checked).

This can also double as written English practice, but there’s absolutely no pressure—this is just for fun and kindness.

If you’re interested, here’s the address:

Ms. Scott’s Class

John Silber Early Learning Center

99 Hawthorn St

Chelsea, MA 02150

USA

If you’re not interested, no problem at all. If you are interested, I promise a group of six-year-olds will be genuinely delighted by your handwriting.

If you’d like help writing a short message, I’m happy to help during a lesson.

Thank you!

Best regards,

Manning
