Hello! I'm Dhynna. I've been teaching English for 3 years now and am currently pursuing my Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language so that I can keep improving my teaching skills to support more students.
I'm from Malaysia, and it may surprise you that my first language is English. I'm also fluent in Chinese and Malay. Currently I've been learning Japanese for 6 years, and able to carry out daily conversations.
However, there was a time where I scored extremely well in my JLPT but could barely speak. I felt extremely embarrassed because of that. But I kept practicing until I could start having conversations with my Japanese friends weekly. I even went on a solo-trip to Japan right before the pandemic. I even hitchhiked on that trip!
So I understand all the pain of not being able to speak and how to overcome them. Through learning Japanese, I’ve noticed the many nuanced difference between English and Japanese and wish to share that knowledge to as many people as I can!
I'm a huge foodie. In my free time, I like to bake or cook and experiment with new recipes. I cook myself a feast even if I'm eating alone! I'm also interested in world cultures, gardening, self-help, minimalism, financial independence, etc.
Teaching Engish to Japanese people
I'm TESL Certified and I've been helping Japanese people to speak English more naturally and confidently for about 4 years and teaching professionally for 2 years. Through that, I've gotten familiar with the common mistakes that Japanese often make in English as well as the nuanced differences of the 2 languages.
My main goal to help my students become more confident in speaking English.
My Classes on Cafetalk
I teach through conversations. As we talk and have fun, I'll help you to express yourself, correct your mistakes, suggest more natural way of saying something, etc.
I also use the principles of repetition and review to ensure, you actually remember and be able to remember what was taught.
The class with be conducted mainly in English but if you get stuck, Japanese is fine too. :)
Book a trial lesson with me and we will start improving your confidence in English together!
Feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing you! :)
