Tutor Jane 講師的自我介紹
Hello everyone! My name is Jane and I am an English language tutor new to CafeTalk!
About Me
I was born and raised in the UK. I studied for my Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism for three years at the School of Journalism in Manchester, as well as a Journalism Diploma from NewsAssociates in London.
Although my education is in Journalism, my passion is in teaching! My education has allowed me to gain a scholar level in the English language, which I am here to use to teach to others who are seaking to gain a high
level of English in a fun and stress-free environment!
I am now living in Japan in a rural area of Hokkaido. I live here amongst nature with very few distarctions, so if you are looking for a teacher with a lot of attention give, then I may be the one for you!

I live with a view of Mount. Yotei always just around the corner!

And my local neighbour farmers always hard at work.
My teaching style:
My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and focused on helping you grow in confidence and fluency. I aim to create a relaxed environment where you feel comfortable speaking, asking questions, and making mistakes—that’s how real learning happens! I adapt lessons to your needs and interests, whether you're working on conversational skills, grammar, pronunciation, or academic writing. I also incorporate real-life materials like videos, articles, and role-plays to make learning both practical and engaging. Most importantly, I believe in consistent feedback, encouragement, and building a strong foundation for long-term improvement.
As part of my lessons, I will often give out small homework tasks for my students. But do not worry! I like to keep my homework as fun and interersting as my lessons. So I will not be sending you away with lots of writing or reading to do.
I also think it is very important to watch movies and lusten to songs to become even better at undertsanding a language. Therefore, I often enjoy suggesting movies, videos or songs relating to my student's lessons for them to engage with and learn from.
Overall, I believe learning should be fun and something we all look forward to. I want to be a reliable source of support for my students and for them to feel comfrotable with me as we learn! My lessons are suitable for those who want to (not limited to):
- Improve their pronunciation, grammar, and syntax
- Improve their reading, writing or speaking skills
- Learn formal/ academic vocabulary
- Learn idioms, expressions and fluency exercises to sound more native
- Practice interviews, speeches, presentations or meetings, etc
- Change from American to British English
PLEASE NOTE: My lessons are only conducted in English. I do not teach english from a basic level, so you must be able to understand a good amount of english in order to have lessons with me. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Additionally, for any writing or speaking tasks, I do teach with British English pronunciation and spelling. Although, if a student requires American English, this is something that must be requested before a lesson.
FUN FACT: I am able to create personalised lessons for those who may want to request specific subjects they would like to learn or practice!
