Hello!
My name is Claire and I'm very happy to meet you! I'm a native English speaker and teacher living in Manchester, UK. I've been teaching English online to adults and university students (specialising in intermediate and advanced conversation, reading practice, writing skills for daily life and work, and IELTS Writing & Speaking) since 2020. I'm friendly, fun and passionate about English - as well as my TEFL certificates, I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and a Master's degree in Creative Writing. I also trained with IDP to teach IELTS Writing & Speaking.
I've written a novel, articles for an online magazine and a blog about teaching English. I also recorded a webinar and a podcast episode about teaching with a highly-accredited TEFL company in the UK.
I love animals and have a cute, fluffy, orange and white cat. I enjoy good conversation, writing, reading novels, visiting new places and watching great movies!
How I can help:
I specialise in helping intermediate and advanced students practice English conversation or improve their writing skills for daily life and work. I also specialise in IELTS Writing Task 2 and IELTS Speaking.
I love chatting (or 'having a natter' as we say in the UK)! I have helped students practice English conversation for several years and I'd love to learn more about you and discuss a huge variety of topics. I especially love talking about movies, TV, books, travel, culture, music and pets!
I can help you improve your general writing skills with useful vocabulary, reading and writing exercises relevant to your interests, needs, daily life or work. We can also do exercises to practice any grammar you struggle with.
If you'd like to practice for your IELTS exam, I can give you valuable tips and advice to help boost your band score.
For IELTS Writing, we can analyse Task 2 questions, plan essays, brainstorm ideas and revise topic vocabulary. I can check essays you've written and provide feedback and corrections.
For IELTS Speaking, we can practice parts 1, 2 and 3 of the speaking test. I can provide tips, feedback, vocabulary suggestions and idiomatic language.
I've written my own IELTS Task 2 essays that I can give you, and I can provide example speaking answers too.
I'm very friendly and I encourage you to ask me questions. I aim to create a collaborative class where we work together to complete exercises, and discuss and share ideas and answers.
I'd love to meet you in our first lesson! Book an introductory class first at a ***special price***. We will use this introductory session to get to know each other and discuss your needs and goals. I'll also explain how my lessons can help you improve your conversational or writing skills or achieve your desired IELTS band score. We'll finish with useful and fun example activities like the ones we'll do in our future lessons. Afterwards, I'd love you to continue to book full lessons with me so I can help and inspire you on your English journey!
