Structured, Supportive English Lessons with an Experienced Educator (Ex-Japan Resident)
Hello, Cafetalk community!
My name is Keith, and I am so excited to meet you! I am a passionate, professional educator with a Master’s Degree in Education (emphasizing Reading and Language Arts) and an undergraduate degree in Psychology. For over 20 years, I have worked as a high school English, Language Arts, and Journalism teacher.
I also have a very deep connection to Japan! I lived and worked there for nine wonderful years, so I truly understand the joys and challenges of navigating a new language and culture. Today, I live in sunny California, where I continue to teach, mentor students, and share my love for communication.
Whether you want to polish your pronunciation, build your confidence for daily conversations, master professional writing, or dive into English media and journalism, I am here to help you succeed at your own pace.

My lessons are warm, encouraging, structured, and highly interactive. I believe the best way to learn a language is to use it naturally.

[A Little About Me & My Hobbies]
I am curious about the world and love working with my hands! Outside of teaching, I have a wide variety of hobbies that I would love to chat with you about:

Motorcycles: I love riding my classic Royal Enfield Bullet 350 motorcycle along quiet, scenic country roads.

Lapidary Art & DIY: I enjoy working with agate stones and other gemstones to polish them into custom pieces, like unique guitar picks. I also run a small discovery YouTube channel.

Animals: I have a wonderful, highly-trained Australian Cattle Dog named Matilda May, who is always by my side.
I am always eager to learn about your culture, your daily life, and your personal interests, too.
