Hello! I’m Mellissa, a native English speaker from Singapore and a TEFL-certified teacher. I help students build confidence in English through natural conversation, pronunciation, and everyday expressions. I can also support you in preparing for interviews, presentations, or other professional speaking situations.
A little bit about myselfGrowing up in Singapore, I have had the privilege of living in a multicultural environment, surrounded by people from many different cultures, languages and backgrounds. Later, I lived in the United States for a few years while studying, which gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. During that time, I worked as a teaching assistant, leading discussion sessions and helping students engage with their course material more effectively. These experiences have made me curious about wanting to learn and connect with people from cultures that are different from my own.
The main goalMy goal is to make learning English enjoyable and stress-free. I focus on conversation, pronunciation, and practical everyday expressions, helping you speak naturally and confidently. As someone who has lived in both Singapore and the U.S., I love helping students understand not just the words, but how people think and express themselves in English.
I know how it feels to learn a new languageAs someone who is currently learning a language (Turkish), I understand how overwhelming and intimidating it can feel to speak in a new language. My goal is to take the pressure out of learning a new language. I offer a calm, supportive space where you can practice speaking naturally and confidently, exploring real-world topics at your own pace.
The approachI am easygoing and I am open to trying out different lesson styles until we find one that suits your needs.
Fun facts about meI love American pop culture, reading, traveling, and sports, especially football and F1. I am not a desserts person and I don't like eating cakes, not even on my birthday. I look forward to finding out some fun facts about you!
