Bonjour! I'm Philippe — Your French Language Teacher

Learn French with an experienced teacher and certified DELF-DALF examiner.

Bonjour et bienvenue !

My name is Philippe, and I am a native French speaker from France. I have been teaching French as a foreign language at the Alliance Française in Taipei, Taiwan, since 2001. I have also been a certified DELF-DALF examiner and assessor for levels A1 to C2 since 2006.

With over 25 years of teaching experience, I have worked with learners of different ages, nationalities, backgrounds and proficiency levels, helping them develop their French language skills and achieve their personal, academic and professional goals.

My teaching philosophy is simple: learning a language is not just about memorising grammar rules and vocabulary. It is about learning to communicate, organise your thoughts, express your ideas and interact with others confidently and accurately.

What Can You Learn with Me?

I offer personalised French lessons designed around your current level, specific needs and learning objectives.

1. General French — A1 to C2

Develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills through structured and engaging lessons. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced learner, we will work together to improve your French progressively and effectively.

2. French Conversation & Communication

Improve your fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary and confidence through guided discussions on everyday situations, French culture, society and current affairs.

You will learn not only how to speak French, but also how to express yourself naturally, clearly and appropriately.

3. DELF B2 Examination Preparation

Prepare systematically for the DELF B2 examination with targeted activities, examination strategies and personalised feedback.

We can focus on oral presentations, argumentation, written production, listening comprehension and reading comprehension.

As an experienced DELF examiner, I can help you understand what is expected at B2 level and how your performance is assessed.

4. DALF C1 & C2 Examination Preparation

For advanced learners, I provide specialised training in academic writing, synthesis, argumentation, oral presentations and complex language structures.

We will work on developing precision, coherence, critical thinking and the ability to communicate sophisticated ideas effectively.

5. TCF Preparation

I also offer preparation for the TCF Tout Public, TCF Canada and TCF Québec, with lessons adapted to the language skills and proficiency levels assessed in these examinations.

6. Professional & Academic French

Develop the French communication skills necessary for professional situations, university studies, presentations, discussions and formal correspondence.

My Teaching Approach

I believe that every learner is different. Some students need to strengthen their grammar, while others want to become more fluent, improve their writing or prepare for an important examination.

For this reason, I do not believe in using exactly the same teaching method for everyone.

My lessons are based on five principles:

  • Personalisation: Lessons adapted to your level, interests, difficulties and objectives.

  • Active participation: You are encouraged to speak, ask questions and express your ideas.

  • Clear explanations: Grammar, vocabulary and language structures explained logically and progressively.

  • Constructive feedback: Corrections that help you understand your mistakes and improve.

  • Progressive learning: Realistic objectives and regular opportunities to consolidate your knowledge.

I aim to create a supportive but academically rigorous learning environment where students feel comfortable participating, making mistakes and progressing.
