Hi everyone!
My name is Orla and I'm from Ireland. I am currently in Vietnam. I am a qualified English language teacher with over 7 years experience.
I am CELT and TEFL certified. I hold an honours degree in Anthropology and Sociology. I am interested in people and cultures.
I also have a diploma in Theology and I am a Life Coach.
I was a nurse for over twenty years. I worked in the acute setting such as acute medicine, Accident and Emergency, CCU and other areas. I worked in the major hospitial in Dublin and London.
I love travelling and have been blessed to be able to travel for the last 6 years. It is because of this wonderful job I have as an English teacher that I could do this.
I love all the amazing students I meet. We talk about many things and have fun together. My students tell me my lessons are engaging and fun. I have taught English is a few countries in Europe and Asia, but I prefer teaching in Asia as it's more interesting for me.
My new dream is to go to Japan. It is a beautiful country and I am intrigued by its lovely culture and kind, gentle people.
Lessons Are For Adults Only
My lessons have structure, but if the you prefer a relaxed conversation lesson, I'm happy to have a chat with you.
The goal is for you to improve your speaking and what better way to do that than have a friendly chat with your tutor.
The more structured lessons focus around the 4 key skills..
- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Speaking
For example, we can read an article and discuss it. This way I can observe your comprehension, listen to your pronunciation, help you build vocabulary and improve your grammar, and confidence.
As I am a writer, I can help you to draf a letter for business or simply write an essay, article or even a poem. I provide proofreading for those of you who have a final draft that needs to be checked.
There are many exercises we can do to improve your writing, but I would prefer to talk to you first to assess your needs and wants.
I also teach Business English and Medical English.
Those lessons will be coming soon!
There are many ways to learn English so we can find a style that best suits your needs and personality. Learning English doesn't have to be boring! It can be fun. I want to help you to enjoy leaning this new language
My Life
I have many interests such as reading, writing, walking, cyclying, cooking, and travelling. In the last 6 years, I have had the pleasure of working and travelling to different countries. I think travelling is an education in itself. I have grown as a person by getting out of my comfort zone.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
