Hi! I’m Karen Nicol, and I’m so excited to have you in my English class! I’m a TEFL and TESOL-certified teacher, a classically trained musician, and I’m also a product designer with two Sports Emmy Awards for my work as Producer and Creative Director on the Sochi and Rio Olympics digital products! When I’m not teaching or designing, I love playing piano, exploring art and musical theatre, reading, and spending time with my two Airedales and my sweet, adopted cat.

One of my favorite things is traveling to new places, meeting people, and trying out the local language. I believe language really brings people together, and I can’t wait to help you feel comfortable and confident using English!

In class, we’ll work on speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar, with plenty of conversation practice. I use a “Before, During, and After” approach to keep learning engaging and relaxed. Before class, I’ll send materials to help you get familiar with the day’s topic. During our lessons, we’ll focus on conversation, real-life scenarios, and grammar basics. Afterward, you’ll get optional practice to keep building your skills at your own pace.
