English with Andrew 讲师的个人介绍
Hello! I’m Andrew, and thanks for visiting my profile. I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but I’m a native English speaker — both of my parents are Americans and I was educated in English. I enjoy teaching, love the English language, and am committed to helping my students develop, and, little by little, perfect their English skills.
I am fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and I think that this gives me some insight into why learning another language can sometimes seem challenging. I believe that my own experiences as a language-learner have made me patient with and supportive of my students. While English is an important skill to have in today’s world, I try to make the learning process enjoyable for my students. I make an effort to show how English can also be an interesting, humorous, and often beautiful language.
I have taught English in private and corporate environments for nearly ten years and specialize in small-group and one-on-one classes. When I teach intermediate and upper-intermediate students, I emphasize a structured approach to learning. I use numerous teaching resources — including textbooks, videos, audios, exercises, and more. I want to make sure my students’ English has a solid foundation. With more advanced students, I prefer to use primary sources — newspaper articles, news reports, and recorded conversations — so that my students can experience English as it is used in real-life situations. I also believe that conversation is a wonderful way to learn a language. It gives students the confidence to express themselves, and it gives me the opportunity to offer corrections and explanations when they are necessary.
I have given classes for extended periods of time at petroleum and agro-industrial companies and am familiar with the issues and debates that define these industries. Also, a number of my students have been trained economists, and I have built a deep archive of teaching materials that deals with economic topics and is useful for learning economic terminology.
I have earned two degrees in literature, which I believe gives me a deep understanding of the language I teach, and it is this kind of understanding that I want to pass on to my students.
