Where language meets life

Hello, I'm Jane, an English Language Coach from Northern Ireland, and I've been teaching English for over 20 years.

With my CELTA qualification, I've taught people from many different countries, and my life has also taken me to different places and cultures. I spent 9 years living and teaching in Yokohama, Japan, where I taught in language schools, colleges and community centres, as well as teaching company classes and private students. 

I've also lived and worked in the Caribbean and Europe, and have studied German, French, Japanese and Spanish. Being a language learner myself, I understand that speaking another language can sometimes feel difficult or even a little scary. I know that using a language is much more than learning words and grammar.

What are my lessons like?

My lessons are warm, relaxed and focused on conversation.

I believe English is something to use, not just something to study.

We might talk about travel, culture, food, films, books, music, everyday life, current topics or simply something you're interested in.

I'll encourage you to speak and express your ideas, while helping you with useful vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and the real expressions that can make your English sound more natural.

Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable speaking English. You don't have to speak perfectly to communicate.

I love sharing its stories, landscapes, history, culture and everyday life, from the beautiful coastline and historic places to local food, traditions and the little things that make life here special.
