Hello English Language Learners!

こんにちは！私のページにアクセスしていただきありがとうございます！！

My name is Noshin Jihan, and I’m ready to help you learn through Cafetalk!

About me:
I am an experienced, qualified ESL and English teacher. In fact, I have been teaching for 20 years! I am a native speaker of English. I have a Master's degree in Education from the Johns Hopkins University. Also, I studied three years for a PhD in Reading Education, at Syracuse University and the University of Maryland.

I've worked with children and adults of all ages, from kindergarten to university, in the USA, Canada and the Middle East. I've taught at the University of Maryland, ILSC-Montreal, Quebec, and Saudi ARAMCO and Princess Nora University in Saudi Arabia. I've also taught at public and private schools in New York and Maryland.  

My Teaching Experience

I have taught Academic English, including IELTS, TOEFL, SAT Verbal, Research Paper Writing, and Academic Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. I have also taught Business English, English for Nurses and Conversational English. 

English is my first language, but I'm a student of many languages! I've studied Arabic, Bengali, French, Hindi and Latin. I'm currently learning Japanese and enjoying it very much! When I’m not learning or teaching, I enjoy cooking, baking and spending time with my family.

This coming year I plan to visit Japan. I am so excited! I’ve always loved Japanese language, culture and of course Japanese food! I enjoy sushi, sashimi and Japanese style noodles and soups.

I'm looking forward to helping you grow as a student of English! 

I live in Upstate New York with my family. Here’s a picture of me with my daughter at the bookstore! We go there often to get read and get coffee.

 

My Teaching Style:

Conversation Classes
I love talking to people from other cultures and learning new things about them. I’m kind, friendly, and patient. I love to help people learn English and learn about them too! I plan to visit Japan soon, so I am eagerly learning about Japanese language and culture. I can’t wait to speak with you and get your thoughts about Japan and America!

Because I have spent most of my life learning languages, I know how hard it can be to learn another language. That's why we will learn at your pace! I am super patient, so don't worry about making mistakes! I will help you to correct your pronunciation and increase your vocabulary naturally. I have been teaching English as a Second Language for 13 years, so I know how to make you feel comfortable speaking English with a native speaker. 

A fun fact about me: I am learning Japanese online! I understand the challenges Japanese students face learning a language on the Internet. I make mistakes during my Japanese lessons, and that’s okay! My mistakes help me to improve, and your mistakes will too! I am here to help you face your challenges, to improve your confidence and to reach your English goals.

I will be offering lessons in Business English and Conversational English. 

I will be collecting ideas from you to create the classes you need! I am always looking for students to tell me what new topics they want to learn about, so let me know if you'd like me to make a lesson especially for you!
