Dear Cafetalk Community,

how are you? I hope you are having a pleasant, relaxing, and hopefully cool Obon holidays! If you're traveling, I hope you are having a good time in your hometown or abroad on vacation. I hear it is extremely hot and humid in Japan! Stay hydrated, indoors, and in air-conditioning, if at all possible. It's very hot in Canada, but maybe not as humid here. Due to global warming, I understand the temperature is warmer all over the earth this summer. In any case, I wish you a cool breeze and/or relaxing time in air-conditioning.

I reported that I surpassed 3,000 lessons a few months ago, or more accurately I wrote the previous tutor's column on 4-17-2019 making the announcement. Now, just in 4 months since then, I surpassed 4,000 lessons! I'm so happy and I just wanted to share the good news with you. I'm glad I'm basically available for you except for when I'm sleeping, of course.

I'm very grateful to all my students who've taken my lesson(s) repeatedly or even just a few times! Please know that I'm always happy to see you! Thank you very much for taking lessons with me. In addition, I would like to thank the Cafetalk Support Staff who are always accommodating, friendly, and kind to me. Your willingness to help is sincerely appreciated!

By the way, . . .

The photograph is from the cover of SOEN Magazine published in Tokyo, Japan. I was a teenager going to an American school in Japan at the time. I wanted to show you because many people remember me from the time I was modeling for five years in Tokyo.

It's a long time ago, but I'm honored, excited, and flattered to hear that some men and mostly women remember me! I worked for five years after school and every weekend, so that adds up to a lot of advertisement that I was in. It brings back a lot of fond memories from that time. Everyone treated me extremely nice when I was a model, and the best part was that I was able to travel all over Japan to all of the islands! One of my clients even took me to Guam to shoot a calendar! I was very fortunate to have had a career at the young age of thirteen to eighteen-years-old. Then, I moved to Los Angeles, California after I graduated from high school to attend UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles).

[About my lessons:]

That's why being on Cafetalk as an English tutor means a lot to me. Now, it's my turn to give back and return the kindness. I'm glad I can be of service by teaching you English. My philosophy is to touch on all the proficiency skills to improve your overall English. For example, I've noticed that some people can speak English fluently, but when they write small grammatical errors become all-too-evident. As you can imagine, a student can excel in one skill but lack in another. Whatever level you are now, I would like to work with you to improve your skills so you can get to the next advanced level.

If you continue to take my lessons, you will use all of your skills interchangeably -- including speaking, listening, writing, reading, vocabulary, grammar, sense-making, and comprehension skills. I'm not saying I can cover all of the above areas in just one 30-minute lesson, for instance. However, if you take my lessons on an on-going basis, I will definitely mix-it-up and have you practice a variety of different English skills.

A free-talk conversation is always welcome and you don't have to worry because I will guide you through a relaxed and easy-going chat. Apart from a free-talk conversation, most of my lessons are text-based. All levels are welcome!

If you're so inclined, please take a look at the various lessons I offer on my profile and lessons page at the weblink below:

It would be my pleasure to meet you! Please stop by and request a lesson. I will do my best to help you improve that is the most suitable method for you! In the meantime, I hope you have a wonderful summer vacation this week! Thank you, again! Hope to see you soon!

Warmest regards,

Lady Ayame
