Tihar | The Festival of Lights

Ishan Mainali

Tihar is a Hindu festival celebrated in Nepal. It is also known as Deepawali. It is the festival of light.

Tihar usually is celebrated for five or six days. In the first few days, animals like cows, crows, and dogs are worshipped. You can see the picture of a dog being worshipped in the picture.

You can see a garland made of marigold flowers around the neck of the dog. This is an important flower for the festival. Such flowers are commonly sold in the market before and during the festival.
