Understanding Phrasal Verbs

Suja

Phrasal verbs are widely used in speech.

Although mastering phrasal verbs might be difficult, understanding them is important if we are to easily and fully understand conversations.

It is wise to note that often, the meaning of the phrasal verb may be quite different to the meaning of the original verb when applied by itself.

Let’s look at the following example:

Pass versus Pass out

She passed out from not eating all day.

He passed out after hearing the news from his uncle.

She passed her English exam yesterday.

We will pass the library soon.

Take the lesson to find out more and learn alternative vocabulary to understand how phrasal verbs can be replaced with other synonyms
