先月、箱根のゲストハウスに宿泊。箱根は海外からの旅行客を歓迎する雰囲気が街全体に漂っていて、たとえば、バスの運転手が笑顔で英語を話していたりします。街を歩いたり、箱根登山鉄道に乗ったりしていると、この土地の高低差がよく分かる。箱根駅伝のランナーたちはこんな山道を走ってるんですね。
I stayed at a guesthouse in Hakone last month. The whole town is filled with a welcoming atmosphere for foreign visitors; for example, bus drivers speak English with a smile on their faces. If you walk around the town or take the Hakone Tozan Railway, you can feel how hilly this place is. I'm amazed that Hakone Ekiden runners run up and down these hills.
