わたしについて

こんにちは！日本語教師のmochiです。

今日は初めてコラムを書くので、どうして私が日本語教師になったのかについて話したいと思います。

私はもともと英語の勉強が好きで海外の文化に憧れを抱いていました。

英語を話せるようになることで、色々な国の人と交流することができ、自分の世界が広がる感覚が楽しくて、言語の魅力にはまりました。

最初は海外の文化に憧れていた私ですが、海外を知ることで、逆に日本の良さに気づくこともできました。

日本人の価値観、生活スタイル、食文化、アニメ等のポップカルチャーなどなど…

私が海外の文化に憧れたように、日本に興味を持ってくれている人がたくさんいます。そんな人たちに、日本人として日本の魅力を発信できる人になりたいと思いました。

そして、自分が外国語として英語を勉強してきたように、日本語を外国語として勉強している人達のサポートがしたいと思うようになりました。

それから、5年間働いていた貿易関係の会社を退職し、日本語教師の資格をとりました！
今では日本語学校で色々な国からきた留学生に日本語を教えています。

日本語教師の仕事はたくさんの出会いと学びがあり、とても楽しいです！

日本語学校では学生からの質問攻めに日々頭を悩ませながら日本語を研究していますが、それもやりがいを感じています。

これからも、少しでも日本語を勉強している皆さんの力になれるように頑張りたいと思います！

Hello! I am MOCHI, a Japanese language teacher.

Today is my first time writing a column and I would like to talk about why I became a Japanese language teacher.

I always liked studying English and yearned for foreign cultures.

Speaking English has allowed me to interact with people from different countries, and it expanded my world. That is why I became fascinated by the language.

At first I yearned for foreign cultures, but by getting to know other countries, I was also able to realise how good Japan is. For example, Japanese values, lifestyle, food culture, pop culture such as anime, etc...

There are many people who are interested in Japan, just as I admired foreign cultures. As a Japanese person, I wanted to become someone who could convey the appeal of Japan to such people.

I also wanted to support people who are studying Japanese as a foreign language, just as I had studied English as a foreign language.

I left the trading company where I had worked for five years and got an certificate as a Japanese teacher! Now I teach Japanese to international students from various countries at a Japanese language school.

I enjoy my job as a Japanese teacher because I meet a lot of people and learn a lot!

At the Japanese language school, I am constantly asked with a variety of questions from students, which makes me research the Japanese language a lot more.

I find that very rewarding.

I will continue to do my best to help everyone who is studying Japanese as much as I can!
