I have been a runner for years but this Autumn my goal is not on my speed but rather my endurance. This means I am focusing on my longer runs, keeping my heart rate low and giving my body what it needs to go the distance.
This week this involves 3 longer runs, endurance gym training and good quality nutrition. Nutrition is often neglected when it comes to runners but it is a vital component of any athlete. The right nutrition can fuel your body to go faster, run farther and recover quicker. In my case it invloves making sure I eat enough as well as giving my body the right nutrients. Plenty of carbohydrates for energy, protein for muscle repair and fats to keep my hormones regulated. I also like a little treat each day ( which ties in well with my baking obsession!).
