Idiom of the Week

Introduction
Idioms are part of daily English. They are funny, colorful, and often don’t mean what the words say. Learning idioms will make your English sound more natural. Each week, we will learn one idiom you can use in real life.

This Week’s Idiom: “Under the weather”

When someone says, “I feel under the weather,” it doesn’t mean they’re standing under a cloud. It means they’re not feeling well or are a little sick.

Example
Tom: “Are you coming to the football game?”
Anna: “Not today. I’m feeling under the weather. I just want to rest.”

This idiom is handy when you don’t feel well but don’t want to give too many details. People will understand right away.

Try it this week: If you catch a cold, say to your friend, “I’m under the weather.”It’s short, polite, and very natural.
