I handle online classes every day. I wake up early, prepare a simple breakfast, then check my notifications for student bookings. Do you want to have a little peek behind each lesson?
This is my daily PROBLEM: My next-door neighbors in our six-unit apartment love to sing! One of them belts out her favorite song while doing her house chores. She sings day in, day out, and it amazes me how her diaphragm never gets tired singing! The other neighbor doesn't sing, but he loves listening to loud music. When I say "loud," it's literally so loud that the whole community knows he's in his house.
So what should I do? My inconsiderate neighbors are disturbing my online classes. One time, my Japanese student asked me during the lesson: "Are you having a party right now at home?" Oh no, it's not me! It's my neighbor singing again with her loud karaoke box, and her noise is heard loud and clear in Tokyo! So that's when I knew I had to get rid of my old earphones and replace them with something more effective.
SOLUTION: I need to use a noise-cancelling headset to block out the background noise and ensure clear communication with my students. I bought two sets, one in black, and one in pink.
The RESULT: It's amazing! My students can't hear my background noise anymore. We now have a smooth lesson without distractions. We can now focus on our discussions, so I'm very happy and satisfied. I wish I had used a noise-cancelling headset right away at the start of my teaching career online. But still, my number one wish is for my neighbors to shut up. I just wish....
