The Magic of the 5-Minute Rule

Teacher DORIAN

Let's be honest - when someone says ''study for an hour,'' our brains immediately start planning snacks, naps, and sudden emergencies. But five minutes? That's doable. That's one song, one coffee break, one ''I'll just check my phone quickly'' moment.

Here's the trick: pick one small thing to focus on for five minutes - maybe five new words, a quick grammar rule, or reading a short paragraph aloud. Set a timer, go full focus, and when it rings, stop. Yes, even if you're feeling inspired (that's the secret sauce - you'll actually want to come back later).

Do this a few times a day, and suddenly, you've studied 20 - 30 minutes without even noticing. You'll start improving faster than someone cramming for hours with half a brain and a full snack drawer.

So next time you tell yourself, ''I don't have time,'' remember - you only need five minutes. Just don't spend the first three deciding what playlist to use.
