The Director of Your Own Life

Howard

Pull up a chair, grab a coffee, and let’s get real for a minute.

After the whirlwind of filming my show and the incredible honor of winning Best Screenplay in Los Angeles, I’ve had some quiet time to reflect. People often ask me about the "secret sauce"—the technical tricks or the industry connections that make a project work. But honestly? The most important tool I ever used wasn't a camera or a software program.

It was my own instinct.

Stop Letting Others Hold the Pen

In the creative world (and in life), there are always people standing by with a "better" idea of how you should tell your story. They want to edit your dialogue, change your lighting, or rewrite your ending to fit what they think is safe or successful.

But here is the truth: If you let someone else write your script, you’ll end up starring in a life you don't recognize.

Direct Yourself

Authenticity isn't just a buzzword; it’s a compass. Being your authentic self means:

  • Trusting the "Gut": That quiet voice that tells you a scene—or a life choice—feels right, even if it doesn't make sense on paper yet.
  • Owning Your Vision: Not everyone will see the ghost in the room with you (metaphorically speaking!), but if you see it, it’s real.
  • Firing the Critics: You can listen to feedback, but you are the only one with "Final Cut" privileges.

The Best Production is You

We spend so much time trying to fit into genres or meet expectations. But the most "award-winning" version of your life is the one where you stop performing and start living. Go with your instincts. If a path feels right, walk it—even if you’re walking it alone at first.

Don't let the world direct you. Pick up the megaphone, find your light, and stay true to the story only you can tell.
