Study Playlists~Does Music Help You Focus?

Lungile B

Music can make studying feel more enjoyable, but does it really help you focus? For many students, the answer is yes — especially with the right type of playlist! Calm instrumental music, lo-fi beats, piano or nature sounds can help improve concentration and reduce stress while studying.

However, not everyone studies the same way. Some people focus better in complete silence, while others feel more motivated with background music. Songs with too many lyrics can sometimes become distracting, especially during reading or writing tasks.

A good idea is to experiment with different study playlists and notice what helps you stay focused and productive. Try using music during vocabulary review, homework, or reading practice and see how your concentration changes.

What about you? Do study playlists help you focus, or do you prefer silence while learning English?
