Why Small Talk Is a Bigger Skill Than You Think

Thamela

Have you ever met someone who could talk to anyone?

Maybe you've wondered how they always seem confident and relaxed in conversations.
The secret isn't having perfect English; it's feeling comfortable enough to keep the conversation going.

Many English learners spend years studying grammar and vocabulary, but when someone asks, "How was your weekend?" they suddenly don't know what to say. That's completely normal.

Small talk is a skill, and like any skill, it becomes easier with practice.

Here are three simple questions you can use almost anywhere:
?? What's something interesting you've done this week?
☕ Have you watched any good movies or shows recently?
✈️ If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

Simple questions like these naturally lead to longer, more enjoyable conversations. In my lessons, we use everyday topics like travel, food, work, hobbies, relationships, and current events to help you speak more naturally and confidently.

My goal is to create a relaxed space where making mistakes is part of learning; and where every conversation helps you grow. What's your favorite conversation starter? I'd love to hear it! See you in class! ??
