Improve Chinese by Speaking 15–30 Minutes a Day
You do not need to study for hours every day. Speaking Chinese with a native speaker for just 15–30 minutes can help you improve your pronunciation, fluency, and confidence.
Here is a simple daily practice plan:
5 minutes: Read useful sentences aloud.
10–15 minutes: Speak about one familiar topic.
10–15 minutes: Ask a native speaker to correct your pronunciation and expressions.
For example, beginners can practise a short self-introduction:
早上zǎoshang好hǎo!我wǒ叫jiào____,我wǒ来自láizì____。
我wǒ家jiā有yǒu____口kǒu人rén。
我wǒ正在zhèngzài学xué汉语hànyǔ,一yī周zhōu学xué两liǎng次cì。
我wǒ喜欢xǐhuan喝hē咖啡kāfēi,也yě喜欢xǐhuan吃chī中国zhōngguó菜cài。
我wǒ是shì____,我wǒ的de工作gōngzuò很hěn忙máng。
以后yǐhòu我wǒ想xiǎng去qù中国zhōngguó,也yě想xiǎng和hé中国人zhōngguórén交流jiāoliú。
我wǒ希望xīwàng我wǒ可以kěyǐ说shuō更gèng多duō中文zhōngwén。谢谢xièxiè!
You can change the topic each day: family, food, work, hobbies, travel, or future plans.
Do not try to memorise everything at once. Practise the same sentences several times, then add one or two new expressions. Regular speaking practice helps turn the Chinese you have studied into language you can actually use.
