Things I Want to Learn Before the Year Ends
As busy professionals, it’s easy to feel like there’s always something else we should be doing: learning a new skill, improving our business, being more productive, or simply keeping up with everything life throws at us.
But as the year starts winding down, I’ve been thinking less about what I need to achieve and more about what I genuinely want to learn—skills that can make both my work and my personal life a little easier.
Here are a few things on my list:
1. How to manage my time without overloading my schedule
I want to get better at prioritizing what truly matters instead of trying to fit everything into every single day. Being productive shouldn’t mean being busy all the time.
2. How to disconnect from work
This might be one of the hardest ones! I want to learn how to fully switch off at the end of the workday, without mentally going through emails, pending tasks, or tomorrow’s schedule.
3. How to automate the boring stuff
There are so many tools that can save us time—from scheduling and organization to content creation and business administration. I want to learn how to use them strategically, so technology gives me more time instead of creating more work.
4. How to say “no” without feeling guilty
A valuable professional skill that also happens to be an important life skill. Not every opportunity needs to become a commitment, and protecting our time is part of building a sustainable career.
5. How to make more room for the things I enjoy
Ultimately, I don’t want to become better at working just so I can work more. I want to learn how to create a career that leaves room for family, hobbies, rest, and the simple things that make life enjoyable.
Because maybe the goal isn’t to accomplish more before the year ends.
Maybe it’s to learn how to make what we already have work better for the life we want.
