We had been looking forward to this for a long time and yesterday the day finally came!
We visited Mt.Yoshino in Nara, 2 hours from our house by walking and public transport, and had the best time ever!
The weather was perfect, and the cherry blossoms were more beautiful than we could have imagined. Many people were having picnics, eating food and drinking alcohol together. The mood was so happy and joyous, and we had a wonderful first 'hanami' experience!
Mountains, nature, cherry blossoms, food, fun - I even managed to get some local 'hoshi-imo' (dried sweet potato) which was an added bonus! Those of you who read my columns regularly will know how I strange love affair with sweet potatoes :-)
