A relaxing holiday by the lake

2018年7月20日

I am back from a relaxing three day holiday, feeling invigorated and exhausted at the same time.

My family and I went to a resort in Muskoka.  The hotel overlooks the lake, which is five minutes away.

Muskoka is about three hours north of where we live.  We left home on Monday morning after breakfast.  After an hour and a half, we stopped in a small town for lunch.  We arrived at the hotel shortly after 2pm.  The kids couldn't wait to go swimming in the pool, which is half indoor and half outdoor.  There is an outdoor hot tub as well.

We had dinner buffet at the hotel.  After dinner, we walked around to enjoy the beautiful scenery.  The sunset was breathtaking.

The next day, I woke up early for a morning swim.  It was only 8am.  I was the only one in the pool, allowing me to swim laps without bumping into little kids.

We spent the rest of the day on the beach.  I tried standup paddleboard and canoeing.

I tried out the spa in the hotel later that day.  They have self serve oxygen facial, whic

h was supposed to be invigorating and make you look beautiful.  I don't think it lived up to its promise, as I actually felt sleepy afterwards and looked the same.

We were back in time for a nice Italian dinner.  The food was really good and the price was reasonable.

On the third day, the kids went biking in the morning while I stayed inside reading a book by the fireplace.  I was too exhausted to do anything.  We came back home around 5pm.

No matter how good the food in the hotel was, I really missed Chinese food after three days, so we ordered Chinese takeout.  There is no food like Chinese food, and no place like home.
