Japanese Writing & Material Correction | Graduation Theses, Reports & PowerPoint
課程介紹
This lesson is a lesson where we review and correct graduation theses, reports, PowerPoint presentations, presentation materials, and other texts and materials written in Japanese together.
In addition to correcting grammar and vocabulary mistakes, we will also check whether the writing sounds natural in Japanese, whether the content is communicated clearly to the reader, and whether the expressions and writing style are appropriate for the purpose and context of the material.
You can use materials that you are actually working on, such as university assignments, graduation theses, research presentations, and materials used for work, during the lesson.
What We Will Cover in the Lesson
Depending on the type and purpose of your materials, we can check points such as:
- Grammar and particle mistakes
- Vocabulary and word choice
- Unnatural Japanese expressions
- Connections between sentences
- Overall clarity of the writing
- Expressions appropriate for written Japanese
- Consistency in writing style
- How to distinguish between the “desu/masu” style and the “da/de aru” style
- Expressions appropriate for academic writing
- Expressions used in reports and academic papers
- Concise expressions appropriate for PowerPoint presentations and presentation materials
- Language appropriate for the intended reader and purpose
Correction of Graduation Theses and Reports
Graduation theses and university reports require Japanese expressions that differ from those used in everyday conversation.
Even if an expression is grammatically correct, it may sound unnatural in an academic paper, or there may be a more appropriate way to write it.
Therefore, while reviewing your writing together, I will explain when necessary not only “what should be corrected,” but also “why the expression should be corrected” and “what kind of expression is appropriate for this text.”
We will also review your writing so that it becomes more natural and easier to understand in Japanese while preserving the meaning of the text and what you want to communicate as much as possible.
Correction of PowerPoint Presentations and Presentation Materials
For PowerPoint presentations and presentation materials, rather than simply using the same sentences as in an academic paper, it may be necessary to use short, clear expressions that are easy for the audience to understand.
In addition to the Japanese written on the slides, we can also review, when necessary:
- Slide titles
- Headings
- Bullet points
- Explanations of figures and tables
- What you will actually say during the presentation
A Correction Lesson Where We Learn by Reviewing Together
In this lesson, rather than simply correcting your writing and giving you the finished text, I also place importance on learning Japanese while reviewing the writing together.
By checking what sounds unnatural, why a correction is necessary, and how the original expression differs from the corrected expression, you will be able to apply what you learn when writing Japanese on your own in the future.
Please feel free to ask about expressions you do not understand or questions such as, “Is it okay to say it this way?” or “Is there a more natural way to write this?”
