2018년 <사랑하는 개>에서 출발한 박솔뫼 소설. 동면하는 사람에 대한 여섯 편의 이야기가 성기게 짠 목도리의 무늬처럼 이어진다. 첫 이야기 <여름의 끝으로>를 시작하는 것은 동면을 결정한 친구 허은을 돕는 나의 이야기. 인생의 어떤 시기에 겨울잠을 선택해 약물을 이용해 한 달씩 자는 사람들의 이야기에서 출발한 이 소설은 나, 허은, 태식, 태인, 시온이라는 인물들을 징검다리처럼 건너 다섯 번째 이야기 <믿음의 개는 시간을 저버리지 않으며>로 물흐르듯 이어진다. 산책이 꼭 필요한, 인생의 어떤 시기를 겪는 사람에게 나타나는 그림자 개와 달리는 시온의 모습을 상상하며 시온의 말을 들어 본다. "나에게 이런 존재가 나타나다니, 우리에게 이런 일이 벌어지다니"(132쪽)

인물의 연쇄가 이야기의 겹을 부풀게 한다. 첫 이야기의 고양이 차미를 보면 박솔뫼의 소설과 꾸준히 걸어온 독자에겐 <고요함 동물>의 '어느날 불현듯 탐정이 되기로 한' 그 고양이가 떠오를 것이다. 겨울잠을 자는 허은과 같은 숙소를 쓰는 고양이 차미의 하루를 상상해 본다. 온양에서 온천을 하고, 대전으로 기차를 타고 가 두부 두루치기와 빵을 포장하고, 헌책방을 다니고, 기차역을 걸어다니다 다시 귀가하는 동면 가이드 '나'가 자리를 비운 숙소에서 보낼 차미의 하루를.

별스럽지 않게 보낸 여행지에서의 한 시기가 떠오르는 그런 소설. 개와 함께 달리는 정도의 속도로 슬픔이 흘러가길 기대해보며 소설을 읽었다. "슬픈 일은 사라지지 않고 대신 우리는 다른 일들이 우리에게 닥치길 기다리며 손을 뻗고 밥을 먹고 아이를 낳"(18쪽)는 것이 삶의 한 풍경이라는 걸 아는 사람들의 발걸음처럼 일정한 리듬감으로, 시간 - 마음을 연결하는 한 사랑스러운 세계가 지나간다.

Cancellation of pack lessons

• 'Unstarted' lesson packs⁽¹⁾ can be cancelled any time. Used Points will be completely refunded. If a 'started' lesson pack⁽²⁾ is cancelled, you will be refunded 50% of the price of the remaining lessons provided that the lessons are unrequested, unconfirmed or not within 24 hours of their scheduled start times.

(1) A lesson pack for which none of the requests have been confirmed by the tutor.
(2) A lesson pack with at least one confirmed request. (By confirming the date and time for the first lesson in the pack the tutor confirms the pack as a whole and coupons are automatically issued)

Cancelling individual requests in a pack

• If you wish to cancel a single lesson that belongs to a pack but not the whole pack, you can do so via the request page. In this case, the coupon used to book the lesson will either be refunded or collected, based on the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy. Please note that any 50% partial refunds in the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy do not apply to lesson packs and the tutor may choose to either refund or collect the coupon in those cases.

This lesson is “Immediately Confirmed”

If the requested date falls within 30 days, the request will be “confirmed” immediately without having to wait for the tutor to reply.

Requests will be confirmed immdiately expect the first one of a pack. If confirmed immediately, the policy “before request is confirmed” will not apply.
