课程介绍

These classes are for beginners. You do not need an expensive studio or fancy orchestra to write a good song. These classes will focus on getting the basics right!

What you will need:
An Instrument (your voice counts). That is all.

We will look at music harmony, how to put together chords and how to put melodies on top. We will look at timbre, dynamics and rhythm and how they affect our perception of the music.

We will talk about creativity and how to try to "think outside the box".

These classes will mainly focus on the music aspect, not the writing of the lyrics.

I am a passionate composer, player and teacher. I have a Master’s in Music, specialising in Original Composition, from Queen’s University Belfast. I did my degree in Music and English at The National University of Ireland, Maynooth. I have a Performance Diploma in Classical Guitar from Trinity College London. I am also a proficient music producer and have studied music production with Point Blank Music School, London.

I am currently the lead-singer / songwriter in a folk-trio called Manta Ray James (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYk6yWfFm4Q). I played lead guitar in the Irish indie-rock band The Curtain Thieves (https://open.spotify.com/artist/0X6m1Y9JeTF8tuTzTUtkYv). We reached number 3 in the Irish charts with the single “Only in the Night”.

I also compose music for film and other media. I composed the original score for the horror / mystery comic Frank at Home on the Farm by Scout Comics (https://www.instagram.com/johnvallelycomposer/).
