Teacher Phillip always teaches with a smile on his face and speaks in a calm tone, and his happy demeanor makes me feel happy too. In this class, we learned about English sentence structure. He taught me that even if we understand English grammar, words, and phrases, if we don't know how to structure a sentence, we won't be able to convey what we want to say to the readers. This made me realise once again that it's important to be creative in how we communicate with the readers. This is the same for Japanese texts, so I would like to keep his advice in mind when I write sentences on a regular basis.

In yesterday's lesson we learned about the proper etiquette for writing a review about a meal at a restaurant. We learned that depending on whether we want to judge a meal as positive or negative, we should construct sentences by listing the pros and cons. Now that I've learned that there is some certain orders and methods for expressing things, I'm going to try to use them when writing sentences in Japanese. I think Phillip's advice, which teaches me etiquette and methods rather than just learning English blindly, will be a shortcut to mastering English.

In this lesson, we discussed the background and personal thoughts of young and older people when changing jobs, which was mentioned in the previous material. It seems that there are some similarities in the circumstances of changing jobs in Australia and Japan, and I was convinced that people of a similar age have similar ways of thinking about changing jobs. Towards the end of the lesson, I was able to listen about the differences in the use of weights and measures that native English speakers naturally acquire in their daily lives, and I felt that it was important to learn about this point honestly without getting too hung up on the reasons.
