Lesson Title: IELTS Introduction & Needs Analysis

Content: Overview of the IELTS exam —Related Needs Analysis
Target Student: Anyone preparing to take the IELTS exam
Language Focus: Past, Present and Future tenses
This lesson comprises three main parts:
First, the student will be provided with an interactive Needs Analysis (Google Docs) - which focuses on students preparing to take the IELTS exam (Academic or General Training) Then the teacher will provide a comprehensive overview/orientation of the IELTS exam — answer any questions.
Next, the student will be provided with an overview of the speaking test and then a more in-depth look at Speaking Part 1. At this stage, the teacher will introduce the PPF strategy (Past, Present, Future) for Speaking Part 1— to help the student expand answers naturally.
The teacher will ask several questions found in Speaking Part 1, and the student will practise answering them using the PPF model. (Controlled practice)
Finally, the student will have the opportunity to practise answering typical Speaking Part 1 questions using the PPF strategy. (Freer practice)
Note: This lesson will provide a comprehensive overview of the various aspects of the IELTS exam — covering both the Academic and General Training content. It also allows the student to practice expanding their answers with the PPF strategy for Speaking Part 1.
