課程介紹
Introduction
Japanese learners of English are often strongest in formal, textbook English—but freeze up in the exact moments where real conversations happen: meeting a stranger at a party or bumping into an old friend after months apart.
This two-lesson mini-unit targets that gap directly by teaching functional, situational English for social settings.
The two lessons are designed as a pair, contrasting formal social English (Lesson 1) against informal, familiar English (Lesson 2)—mirroring a register distinction Japanese speakers already navigate instinctively in their own language (keigo vs. casual speech). Rather than teaching politeness and formality as new concepts, these lessons let students transfer pragmatic skills they already have onto English.
- Lesson 1—Breaking the Ice: Starting a conversation with someone you've never met at a party or social event.
- Lesson 2 — Catching Up: Reconnecting casually with someone you already know.
