课程介绍
Class 1: The ASL Alphabet, Numbers 1-10, and Essential ASL Culture
We'll learn the ASL alphabet from A-Z, variations in the Alphabet, basic fingerspelling rules, numbers 1-10, and explain some common misconceptions about the deaf community that will shape further instruction in our lessons!
Class 2: ASL Questions, Introductions, Conversation Phrases and Conversation Practice
We will learn how to approach, greet, and tell their name to a deaf person as well as receive a reciprocal greeting from a deaf person. You'll learn a few ways to ask for more clarification or to ask the deaf person to adjust their signing. Lastly, we'll have a brief period of silent conversation to practice what we've learned!
Class 3: Pronouns & Relationships in ASL, Numbers 10-20, Hand Dominance
We'll cover pronouns/ possession and basic direct family relationships (mother, father, brother, sister, etc.). We'll learn numbers 11-20 and the 3 variations in signing 16-19. After this, you'll learn how to say your age- and add this concept to your introductions. Lastly, we'll cover hand dominance (what this means and how it will influence your signs and the explanation of concepts in ASL).
Class 4: ASL Facial Expressions, Essential Emotions, and Parameters
We'll cover common facial expressions relating to signs/phrases previously learned and essential emotion signs. We'll learn basic positive and negative emotion signs. You will also understand the integral part of facial expressions in ASL. Lastly, we'll cover the 5 parameters of signs to help you properly describe new signs you learn and ensure signs you learn from here on are noted properly so as to be practiced properly.
~ Every class will have brief periods of instruction that are signing only- don't worry :) it will be easy!
