Let's read together Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's masterpiece, “The Little Prince”, in Italian! The recommended language level is an A2-B1.
Please make sure that you are not at too low a level of Italian (such as pre-A1 or A1) or that you already know the story of the book, as there are several challenging words within it (such as “asteroide”, “museruola”, “addomesticare”...) and also some archaic/literary vocabulary that is hardly used nowadays (“rinunziare” instead of “rinunciare”).
Plot: At night, in the dunes of the Sahara, a thousand miles from any inhabited place, an aviator crashes with his plane. At dawn an extraordinary, tiny human being appears beside him: he is the little prince of a lost planet, where he left a unique rose that makes all the stars bloom. During his long journey he met the funny and sometimes incomprehensible inhabitants of as many planets until, on Earth, a fox taught him that you only really know the things you tame.
About the author: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (Lyon 1900 - Mediterranean 1944), a writer and aviator, published his first text, “The Aviator,” in 1926, which was followed by “Courier of the South” (1929), “Night Flight” (1931), “Land of Men” (1939) and “War Pilot” (1942), among others. A reconnaissance pilot during World War II, he disappeared during a mission in the Mediterranean skies in July 1944. His best-known work, “The Little Prince,” published in 1943 in New York and translated into more than 100 languages, is one of the best-selling books in the world.
