“What company do you work for?”
“What’s your job?”
If you meet someone in a business situation, these are often the first questions people ask you.
English is an international language, so if you go to an international conference or meeting, it’s important to make sure that you can explain your job and your company in English, in a way that is easy-to-understand, and clearly explains your company’s strong points.
This lesson is for anyone who does business internationally, whether it’s going on business trips, attending international conferences, or meeting foreign clients.
LESSON GOALS:
- Talking about your job in a way that English-speakers can understand
- Explaining clearly what your company does
- Talking about your company’s strong points, including how you are better than your competitors!
LESSON PREPARATION:
- Before the lesson, I'll send a PDF with lots of useful phrases for talking about your job and your company.
- Please read the phrases and use them to prepare short introductions to your job and company (instructions will be on the PDF).
DURING THE LESSON:
- Please introduce your job and company to me.
- I’ll give your some feedback and advice to make your introductions sound clear, smooth, and natural.
This lesson is suitable for intermediate level students, but can be adapted for lower-level and higher-level learners.
