課程介紹
If the student knows how to read music, I will provide or create a sheet music arrangement of the song featuring both the melody and chords.
Step 1: Mapping the Song
Regardless of reading ability, our first step is to map out the song's structure. By listening to the track in short sections, we will map out its form (for example, AABA) on paper or in a digital document.
Step 2: Analyzing the Elements & Building Coordination
Once we understand the structure, we will analyze the specific elements that make the song unique: melody, harmony, and rhythm. Every song features a distinct combination of these three components. Through targeted hand-independence exercises, we will practice playing the chords with the left hand and the melody with the right, keeping these core elements in mind.
Step 3: Mastering the Performance
After mastering the individual elements, we will practice with a metronome and play along with the original track. Finally, we will transition to playing the song solo on the piano, shifting our focus to a performance mindset—letting go of distractions, building confidence, and finding deep focus.
