课程介绍
If you are planning to develop yourself in English applied to a professional area, it might be a great idea to first consolidate and expand your knowledge of the fundamental skills. If you choose to do this, you will avoid “holes” or “blanks” that would otherwise ruin your fluency and slow down your progress in the area of your choosing.
The core skills of English include:
Speaking:
- Ability to be appropriate to context, and sound natural.
- Express your ideas clearly and in an organized fashion
- Easily compare and contrast situations, and use conditionals without having to think a lot.
Writing:
- Realize the impact that your words have on the reader.
- Express your ideas and emotions in the way you want them to be interpreted.
- Use a descriptive and enriched vocabulary* without making grammatical mistakes.
Listening:
- Accurately understand the main idea of the speaker
- Recognize effectively different accents and understand typical expressions of each culture.
- Keep up with fast-speaking people.
Grammar:
- Use tenses appropriately.
- Use resources such as modal verbs and unreal times and subjunctives naturally.
- Talk about hypothetical situations and theorize.
*And let’s add vocabulary.
-It’s important to have a wide range of vocabulary to avoid gaps and pauses while talking, to understand other speakers more effectively and to improve the quality of your writing.
If you don’t feel comfortable in any of these areas, don’t worry. It is entirely possible to consolidate them within a reasonable period of time, and become a fluent speaker, no matter the level of difficulty you might be having. It’s a matter of developing the foundations that you will need to move further.
