In this lesson, we’ll build your reading skills using a real news story about a guide dog who saved his owner on a New York City subway.
You will learn how to:
- Understand the main idea (gist) of a text quickly
- Find specific details in a reading
- Improve your reading speed and confidence
- Discuss what you read and share your opinions
We’ll start by looking at a photo and making predictions, then learn some key vocabulary to help you understand the story. After that, you’ll read the article and complete activities focused on both general understanding and detailed comprehension. Finally, we’ll discuss the story together and share ideas about animals and human behavior.
