Are you tired of slow, unnatural audio tracks from English textbooks?

To really get a handle on English comprehension, you need to practice with how native speakers actually talk — at normal speed, discussing complex and genuinely interesting ideas. In this lesson, we use short, high-quality videos from channels like TED, BBC, and Kurzgesagt to sharpen your listening skills, build your vocabulary, and give you more confidence when speaking.

What you'll get out of this lesson:

• Real-World Listening Practice — Train your ear to follow natural pacing, accents, and intonation.
• Summarizing Skills — Learn to quickly process spoken information and explain complex ideas in your own words.
• Vocabulary in Context — Pick up and practice advanced vocabulary the way it actually appears, in a visual and memorable setting.
• Targeted Feedback — Get expert corrections on pronunciation and any grammar patterns that keep tripping you up.

How the lesson works:

• Before class — I'll send you the target vocabulary before the lesson so you can look it over and come prepared.
• 5 mins — Warm-up & Prediction — We'll look at the video's title and thumbnail, get a discussion going, and predict what it's about.
• 5 mins — First Watch — You'll watch the video straight through, focusing on the main ideas and overall message. No need to catch every detail yet.
• 10 mins — Summary & Feedback — You'll summarize what you heard in your own words — good practice for thinking on your feet and building fluency.
• 10 mins — Vocabulary Check — We'll work through the key vocabulary from the video, matching words to definitions before watching again.
• 15 mins — Second Watch & Deep Dive — With the vocabulary fresh in mind, you'll watch again and focus on specific details, then work through some comprehension questions.
• 5 mins — Discussion & Correction — We'll close out with a discussion about the video's topic. Throughout the class, I'll keep track of any errors and go over them with you at the end.

What to prepare: Just review the vocabulary I send the day before, make yourself a coffee, and come ready to watch something worth watching.
