Keeping chickens as pets in your garden

It is common to talk about being a "dog person" or a "cat person", but what about hens? Can you be a hen person?
In fact, hens are not officially pets in Britain, but they are the fourth most popular animal to have at home (in your garden). Many people treat these chickens as pets. You can keep the hens in a little coop or run, or let them out into the garden. The hens will gladly accept treats from you, and follow you around to see what you are doing.
In this lesson, we will talk about how to look after hens, what sort of house they need and how to keep them safe, what they eat and how they behave, and how they make excellent and rewarding pets.
