Practise your French through stories, media and conversation!
Bonjour!
Do you enjoy French films, TV series or podcasts? Would you like to use them to practise your French and discover francophone culture?
In this lesson, we'll use a film, a TV series, a podcast or a documentary as a starting point for an engaging conversation in French.
Before our lesson, we'll choose a piece of material together, based on your interests and French level. You can suggest something you already enjoy, or choose from my recommendations below.
What could we explore?
Here are a few ideas to get us started!
Films and TV series

ARTE — discover French-language films, short films and series, including stories that invite us to discuss characters, emotions and different perspectives.
Documentaries and current affairs

TV5MONDE+ — explore francophone documentaries and programmes about society, culture and current affairs.
Podcasts

InnerFrench — explore French culture, society and interesting ideas through a podcast designed for French learners.

Louie Media — discover stories, documentaries and thought-provoking topics about people and society.
These are just suggestions! You're welcome to propose other French-language films, series, podcasts or documentaries that interest you.

What will we do during the lesson?
Depending on the material we choose, we might:

The aim is to have a meaningful conversation, explore ideas and enjoy using French — not to turn the lesson into a formal grammar class.
How does it work?
1. Choose our material. Before the lesson, we'll exchange messages to agree on a film, series, podcast or documentary that suits your interests and level.
2. Get familiar with the material. Depending on our choice, you may watch or listen to a short excerpt before the lesson. Alternatively, we can explore a suitable excerpt together during our session.
3. Meet and discuss! We'll use the material as a starting point for conversation, with questions and guidance adapted to your level.
