Q. Hi Jenny, please tell us a little bit about yourself.

A. Hi! Well, I’m from the U.S. And I’ve lived in New Jersey, California, Illinois, and Michigan. I think I consider San Jose, California my hometown, but my family lives in Florida now. When I go back for visits, I usually go to Florida, so maybe it’s a kind of new home. I love my family very much! The weather in south Florida is amazing. It’s a place where many people often spend their retirement, but there’s something there for everyone!

Q. As we know, you live in Tokyo near Cafetalk Office! How is your life there?

A. It’s a little expensive and we hear lots of noise, but maybe my opinion is biased after living in the countryside. It’s a great area! It’s a little far from the train stations, but it’s good exercise. There are some wonderful parks nearby. And the restaurants! The neighborhood where the Cafetalk office is located is very nice! I would love to come visit more often.

Q. What do you like to do on your holiday?

A. I love exploring new areas of Tokyo and traveling when possible. For just the cost of train fare, you can see many interesting neighborhoods for free!
If I have a long vacation, I like to visit my family back in the U.S. They live in Florida now, so it really is a vacation when I go there! I love to visit warm places. Last year, my husband and I visited Okinawa. I think I would like to live there someday! But when the weather is cold, I like to relax inside. I hibernate like a bear in the wintertime. Maybe I’ll take more lessons on Cafetalk this winter! I really want to study Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin… I love languages! Of course, it’s important that I study Japanese too!

Q. I want to ask about your lessons. You have wide range of lessons such as translation, proofreading and business English! What is the main feature of your lesson?

A. I think that the main feature is customization. We can tailor the lessons to any skill level unless it says otherwise in the lesson profile. Also, it’s important to stay motivated, so we will try to have some fun and talk about interesting topics.
Many of my lessons include answering questions. Please don’t worry if you feel uncomfortable! If there’s a question that’s too personal, feel free to use a fake answer. You can also say, “Can we skip this please?” if you feel uncomfortable answering a question. But! If the question is too challenging, please let me know! I don’t want you to miss any chances to speak English! We will move at your pace in each lesson.
After each lesson, I will send you notes and feedback for your review. Protecting privacy is very important to me. For translation and proofreading lessons, all information is confidential. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let me know!

Q. Your lesson, “Phone call to your phone!” sounds interesting! Could you tell me about the aim of the lesson?

A. I think many students want to improve their skills with taking telephone calls in English… What better way to learn than to experience the real thing? Have you seen someone talking on a cellphone in English and thought, “how cool!” I’m sure there are others who think the same. Why not be that person who looks and sounds so cool? Some students want to gain the confidence to speak one-on-one, and nobody has to hear the call if you just want privacy.
The student can learn to relax during the phone calls. Since the call is just with me, you don’t have to worry about making mistakes. I will give you feedback after each phone call. The students can choose topics they want to study or simple chit-chat. It’s very customizable!

Q. Finally, is there anything you would like to share with our students?

A. I would like to thank you for your efforts! By working hard to learn English, you become an inspiration to others (myself included!) not only with language study, but also with working to achieve your goals and being as happy as possible. I would love to help you whether you need rigid study for work or just want to relax and express your thoughts freely.
