Hi! My name is Dan Long, I am at teacher here at Cafe Talk.
I teach ESL and am TEFL Certified. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Arizona State University and carry two Associates Degrees, one in Communications from the CCAF and one in Applied Health from ABTech. I have been teaching ESL online for approximately six months now and I love it.
Teaching, for me, is wonderful. I get the opportunity to help people to express themselves so that they can tell "their story". We are all unique. We all have shared experiences, but, we also have personal ones. Being able to communicate effectively allows us to open our world to new ideas, new cultures and new people. To me, this truly defines the human experience.
I am the father of eight (mostly) grown children and have a thirteen year old still living at home. His mother and I try to show him the wonderful diversity and richness of this world and its people. We enjoy traveling, spending time in new environments and meeting new people.
I am a writer, I have written one novel, dozens of short stories, hundreds of poems and I currently write as a freelance writer for different publications. My main areas of study are the written word, history, theology and philosophy and cooking. I can and, at some point, will, offer classes in these areas as well.
My hobbies include, coffee drinking, camping, cat sitting, drawing and painting and paracord braiding. I also enjoy photography and baseball. I am a poor golfer, an adequate mechanic and can occasionally beat my youngest son at chess. LOL.
I look forward to meeting you, talking with you and helping you to find your voice, to be able to tell your story and to seeing you grow in your journey through the English language.
