안녕하세요! My name is Soyoung, and I am a Korean language instructor.
I came to Japan in 2008 to go on to college, and I have been living in Japan for 10 years now.
I am a language enthusiast, and I have majored in Japanese and Korean in college as well as in graduate school.
I am also interested in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, as I have lived in the US and Brazil for a short while of time.
I have been a Korean language tutor for around 10 years.
When I was a college student, I volunteered as a Korean language and culture tutor at nearby nursery schools and elementary schools.
In college and graduate school, I focused on the similarities and differences between Japanese and Korean (Japan-Korea Contrastive Linguistics), and I think my strength is that I can explain Korean from the perspective of a native Japanese speaker.
I have been blessed to teach around 100 students so far, and I have been able to grow through offering lessons as well. I would like to use my experience that I have gained so far to help you achieve your goals to the best of my ability, and I hope to do so sincerely, during every lesson.
What I try to do in my lessons is
“to communicate a lot!!
I try to keep grammar explanations to a minimum.
My goal is to minimize grammar explanations and have every student speak plenty of Korean, so that after the lessons, students will feel that they were able to speak a lot of Korean today. After the lesson, students will be able to feel that they have learned Korean without even noticing it.
