SELF INTRODUCTION
My name is Jill and I am originally from England but now I live in Australia. My home is in tropical Far North Queensland, Cairns, right next to the Great Barrier Reef. I love the outdoors, and regularly walk, hike and run. I also enjoy yoga and learning languages.
TEACHING BACKGROUND
I have been teaching for over 20 years. I gained my CTEFLA qualification to teach English after completing my Bachelor’s degree in German and Spanish. I then taught English in England, Greece and Japan before emigrating to Australia and continuing to teach here.
While my two daughters were young, I focused on their education, also helping other parents in educating their children, and teaching sewing online. In addition, I qualified as a swimming teacher and taught swimming to young children.
As my children grew older, I returned to English teaching, which is what I have been doing full time for the past few years.
Over the years I have taught all ages and abilities, from 2 to 92 years old, and from total beginners with zero English to advanced level students who want to polish their English to perfection. I have also taught IELTS exam preparation students and classes.
TEACHING STYLE
I always bring lots of energy to my lessons and make them fun, interesting and productive. Whatever your reason for studying English or your goals, I am here to help you. My extensive teaching experience allows me to adapt my lessons to suit your individual needs and way of learning. My goal is to help you get the most out of the lessons, to improve your English and to enjoy the process. I want to help my students to build their confidence in speaking English and to not be afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes are a GOOD thing because they help us learn!
I would love to help you with your English, so I encourage you to sign up for a counselling session so we can get to know each other a little and find out how I can best help you with your English.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
