Merhaba! My name is Esra and I’m a certified Turkish teacher with over five years of teaching experience. I’ve worked with students from all over the world, both in-person and online, and I continue to teach full-time today.

My passion for languages started long before I became a teacher. As a language learner myself -currently studying Korean- I understand firsthand what it feels like to start from zero, to struggle with pronunciation, and to finally feel the joy of expressing yourself in a new language. That journey is exactly what made me want to become a language teacher: to help others experience that same joy.

Before I began teaching online, I gave private Turkish lessons in Istanbul. Later, I transitioned to digital platforms where I’ve had the chance to meet learners from diverse cultural backgrounds. I mainly teach in English, but I always try to gradually integrate Turkish into the lessons from day one, to build confidence in a natural and supportive way.

In my lessons, I often use structured textbooks such as Istanbul Turkish for Foreigners, but I also create my own materials -including slides, visuals, and review videos- to support different learning styles. I enjoy designing lessons that are clear, engaging, and tailored to the needs of each individual student.

Outside of teaching, I have a deep interest in art. I practice ceramics, oil painting, and explore traditional Turkish arts like çini and calligraphy. I sometimes bring these cultural elements into class as well, especially for students who want to learn the language and better understand Turkish culture.

Above all, I believe in creating a safe and enjoyable learning space where students feel seen, supported, and inspired. If you’re ready to begin your Turkish journey -or continue it with new motivation- I’d be happy to guide you ^-^
